DM Acting Coach is founded by Denise Maifield (that’s where the ‘DM’ comes from), who is a seasoned theatre director, speech and acting head coach, and camp instructor with over 20 years of experience across McHenry and Lake County middle schools, colleges, and community theatres. 

 

I specialize in making performance education both impactful and fun, and am dedicated to shaping confidence in the next generation of actors (grades 5-12) through personalized acting lessons tailored to your child’s unique goals, experience, and personality. 

 

I’ve been acting in plays and musicals across civic centers, playhouses, and community theatres since middle school. I was also a National IHSA qualifier in Dramatic Duet during college. Since then I’ve helped successfully guide three High School teams to the National IHSA State Finals for Performance in the Round and directed over 40 shows like Shrek the Musical Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Matilda Jr., and The Little Mermaid Jr. I am currently working on Trolls Jr. at the PM&L Theatre in Antioch and you find me as a theatre instructor for the McHenry County College Kids & College programs in the summer.

 

With every show and lesson, I hope to combine my firsthand performance knowledge with expert coaching to help young actors find their voice, build character, and shine and thrive both on and off the stage.
